Scheduled to reopen on Monday (March 18), the former Lloyds Bank building on Portswood Road will debut its transformation into a venue catering to craft beer enthusiasts and coffee connoisseurs alike.
The indie cafe-bar group, which has four sites across the city, says its brand ‘Ascapart’ represents the UK's first combined craft brewery and speciality coffee roastery.
It will be led by industry figures Jimmy Hatherley as head of beer, and Wilson Law Wai Shing as head of coffee.
“Speciality coffee and craft beer have gone hand in hand at Mettricks since 2013; it feels like a dream come true to share this exciting moment in time with Jimmy and Wilson as we bring Ascapart to life,” said founder of Mettricks and Ascapart Spencer Bowman.
The venue said it will also be extending its opening hours until 11pm, transitioning from “cosy daytime brunch spot to vibrant craft beer and sourdough pizza haven by night”.
Mettricks Portswood is located at 267 Portswood Road, Southampton SO17 2LA.
