police car rear at night 600pxAn increased police presence has been reported around the Riverside Park area this afternoon and evening, but police have said there's no immediate threat to the public.

Hants Constabularly said in a social media post they were "responding to a recent incident".

They added: "We would like to reassure everyone that there is no immediate physical threat to the public. Feel free to approach any of our officers if you need assistance."

On social media there's speculation in local groups that they are looking for a male, although a fire engine has also been said to have been seen.

Police vehicles have been particularly noted near Woodmill, and a helicopter has been heard in the area for a few hours at the time of writing.
