Musical flavour at Clipper Race weekend

Teen idols Parade play on Saturday

Headline bands will be rocking Southampton for the kick-off weekend of the world’s longest yacht race, which departs from Ocean Village on July 31.

Big names such as Toploader, Delays and Parade will be entertaining the crowds during the free Clipper Race launch weekend held in Ocean Village this weekend.

Local Southampton indie group Delays will perform on the Saturday (July 30). The group has released four critically acclaimed albums to date, the first three of which made the Top 30.

Toploader feature on Friday evening (July 29). The successful band from the 90s and 00s, known for hits such as 'Dancing in the Moonlight', reunited this year and front man, Joe Washbourn, has recently featured on this year’s 'Popstar to Operastar' programme. Their new album 'Only Human' is out now.

One of the hottest teen idol bands, Parade, will also be performing. The five-piece ‘girl band’ last year toured with Shakira and debut single 'Louder' was in the top 10.

The 10 yachts depart from Southampton on Sunday July 31 on their 40,000-mile race, which is set to last for 12 months.
