Townhill Junior School is due to undergo major works on its roof this summer.

Southampton City Council is looking to appoint a firm to carry out the scheme, with applications for the £600,000 contract closing in early June.
The work needs to be carried out as part of the school building’s flat roof is approaching the end of its life.
The council has already given the work the green light as part of the education repairs and maintenance programme for 2024/25.
Bitterne Park ward councillor Phil Webb (Lab), pictured, said: “Cllr Barnes-Andrews and I visited the site earlier in the academic year, and it was clear that the work needed to be done.
“We are both very glad it’s been included in the 24/25 education repairs and maintenance programme.
“We were impressed by the pride and care that the staff and the senior leadership team have for the school – both in the fabric of the building and in the fabric of the community surrounding the young people.”
The work is funded through the schools condition allocation grant from the Department of Education.
Once the tender process is complete, work is due to start this summer and be completed this year.
There is not expected to be any disruption to learning at the school in Benhams Road.
Final timescales will not be completed until the tender process has taken place and a contract is agreed.
Cllr Webb added: “As a teacher myself, I know the potential disruption that building works can cause around a school. Therefore, it’s a real positive that the work can get underway while pupils are enjoying their summer holidays.

“With projects like this, along with the recent news about the Townhill Park sites being transformed into affordable housing thanks to the new framework, I hope this builds confidence locally that the area will get the TLC it richly deserves.”
