The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest reading for pleasure programme for children, says charity The Reading Agency, and helps get approximately 700,000 children into libraries each year.

Volunteers in Southampton aged 14 to 24 can assist from July 6 to August 31, helping children discuss their books, handing out rewards, and supporting summer activities.

The role offers valuable work experience and skill development, says Southampton City Council..

Volunteers must commit to one three-hour session per week. Those 16 and older will need a DBS check.

Applications close on June 10. More details are here
