As reported, the original £450 target was reached within just three days of the original appeal’s launch.

Organiser Paul Jenks, pictured, described this achievement as “astonishing”, and a stretch target of £650 was then set.

This too has now been exceeded, with the ‘totaliser’ currently displaying £761 with seven days left to run at the time of writing.

Jenks, pictured, said that the original £450 target was enough to enable the festival to cover up-front expenses and go ahead this year. That was needed because although it had to pay out various fees last year, it had to be cancelled due to poor weather and therefore couldn’t generate any income.

“The stretch target of £650 is to buy some new pieces of kit and to replace some broken stuff which we’re going through at the moment. Some of that stuff hasn’t been out of a garage for two years.

“There’s always things that get broken, or need replacing, and we just needed a bit of comfort to be able to pay for that, and a little bit of comfort about being able to go again next year as well.

“And it’s done that. It’s done that brilliantly. People have been really generous.”

“Anything extra we get continues to help to ensure the longevity of TriFest. The only thing that stopped us was the weather, and fingers crossed, that isn’t going to stop us again.”

TriFest is scheduled for July 27 from 12 - 7pm at the Triangle end of Riverside Park. More details on the festival's website.
