Opposite Bitterne Manor Primary School, the mural now features new depictions of local wildlife, thanks to the creative efforts of Year 10 students from Bitterne Park Secondary School.

It was carried out with the support of the South Western Railway Customer and Communities Improvement Fund.

Chessel Bay, a Local Nature Reserve on the River Itchen, is a cherished spot where volunteers frequently organise clean-ups to tackle the tide-borne rubbish, especially plastic. Regular clean-up organiser Rose noted, "People are really pleased with the new mural."

As reported, the nearby Bitterne Station ticket office has also been undergoing a transformation.

Original features from the 1920s and 1930s have been discovered and restored as part of the work to convert the station into a community hub, in partnership with The Friends of Bitterne Station.
