Memories of Old Boat House

Old Boat HouseHere are some pics and memories of the recently demolished Old Boat House at the approach to Bitterne Park Triangle. 



This one was taken (by Cath Wright) from the river in 2007, but already seems like a 'blast from the past'. McCarthy & Stone have now been granted planning permission (Aug 16, 2011) for sheltered housing flats on the site. We also have some shots from 2003 below.

15/10/11 Ann MacGillivray has emailed to say that this link, to a page on the history of the Southampton Amateur Rowing Club, mentions the club at the Boat Yard by Cobden Bridge during the war. Scroll down for Ann's additional pics, from over the river.
