Earlier this month, Southampton City Council announced that repairs to the existing system weren’t possible, partly due to the unavailability of unique replacement parts.
Starting Monday, workers will excavate and replace the underground cables, signal lights, and internal electrical systems serving the junction
Lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals will be in place, with staff on site during peak hours to help aid traffic flow, according to the council.

The upgrade is funded by the Department for Transport.
