Itchen Sixth Form College, on Middle Road in Bitterne, was awarded the ‘Outstanding’ rating for its overall effectiveness following a visit by inspectors in early October.
It had previously been rated ‘Good’ following a November 2021 inspection.
On specific areas, the latest ratings were as follows:
- The quality of education - Outstanding
- Behaviour and attitudes - Outstanding
- Personal development - Good
- Leadership and management - Outstanding
- Education programmes for young people - Outstanding
- Adult learning programmes - Good
- Provision for learners with high needs - Outstanding
- Overall effectiveness at previous inspection - Good
The college serves around 1,900 students.
“Students and adult learners share the high expectations that staff consistently set throughout their time at college. They behave impeccably,” was one observation in the full report, available from this link.
Principal Alex Scott said: “This rating is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the achievements of our students, and the strong support from parents and guardians. We’re proud to foster an inclusive, aspirational, and high-achieving environment.”
