As reported in November, BEK Sourdough Bakery announced its intention to open on the corner of St Denys and Priory roads, to wide support on social media.
The bakery boasts that “every pastry and loaf is made fresh on-side each morning”.
On Facebook, the business, which is run by baker and co-owner Tamas Konkoly (pictured), said: “This isn’t just an opening—it’s the result of years of dreaming, planning, and pushing through challenges. There were countless moments when it felt impossible, but this bakery represents everything I’ve poured my heart and soul into.”
The Sunday opening will be a one-off at 10am, but usual opening hours will be Tuesday to Friday 7am – 4pm and Saturdays 7am – 2pm.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. This bakery is more than a shop; it’s a labor of love. And now, we’re ready to share that with you,” said a post on the bakery’s Facebook page.
The corner premises, which have been closed for business for some time, previously housed ‘St Deny’s Grill (sic)’, Fit Chefs, and before that Marmaris Kebab & Pizza.
