Plans have been submitted to Southampton City Council by applicant Dr Paradzai Chitongo for a lawful development certificate for a four-bedroom detached property at 30, Glenfield Avenue.

Supporting documents say it would accommodate up to three children between seven and 18 years old, supported by non-resident care support workers providing 24-hour care.

There would be no fundamental changes to the layout of the property, according to the application, and children would be attending school or college.

The application has met with 12 objections lodged on the council’s planning portal at the time of writing. There has also been discussion on social media.

Some concerns raised by objectors include potential disruption to the residential character of the area, safety and security risks, inadequate local infrastructure to support the facility, increased traffic and parking issues, and the possibility of setting a precedent for further non-residential conversions.

Representations can be made to the council by February 21 from this link.
