As previously reported, “essential structural improvement works” were due to take place on the Priory Road railway bridge for a startling five months, causing a closure for road users on the southern section of Priory Road for at least some of the period, and a series of diversions in place as a result.
Now Network Rail has said that the work is currently being “replanned” and a new programme of work is to be confirmed.
The infrastructure owner and manager stressed that the bridge, while being “in need of routine maintenance” is still safe for trains to pass over and for vehicles and pedestrians to pass under, and structural engineers would continue to monitor it.
