Police were called at 5.45am with reports of a minor injury following a collision involving two cars on St Catherine's Road. The road was apparently closed for a period and car alarms sounded.
Police said no arrests were made.
"I woke up at 6 o'clock thinking, what's that constant noise," said Claudia Murg, who lives near the junction of St Cahterine's Road and Bond Road.
"I looked out of the window to see there were a couple of fire brigade officers and a couple of cars crashed and lots of police."
She said the junction is an accident hot spot, and the collision was between a car driving along Bond Road and one on St Catherine's.
"For us as residents it's a question of making representations to make the lower part of Bond Road one-way, which would be good because the buses are going down there."
She added: "I've lived here for 19 years and to be honest I've seen at least six accidents where people have been rescued."
The landlord of Jupider told bitternepark.info that there was an operator for the shop waiting to step in when the insurance situation, following the last collision when a van reportedly ram raided the store in January 2024, is resolved.
But it's thought the latest incident will put the situation back in the hands of the insurers.
