The conservation charity’s scheme provides tree packs to groups, helping more people get involved in tree planting.
As previously reported, the application for a pack of trees was made by FORP in partnership with Bitterne Park Growing Places, Transition Southampton and Southampton National Parks City.
Volunteers picked up their shovels on Saturday, March 22, to plant rowan, silver birch and wild cherry whips.
Paul Jenks from FORP previously told bitternepark.info: “The idea is to increase tree canopy, which is good for birds and insects, and also to increase biodiversity with native trees.”
• Everyone is welcome to FORP’s AGM on Thursday, April 24 from 7.30pm at Bitterne Park Social Club. Guest speaker will be Rhia Weston from Southampton National Park City. More details on our What’s On pages.
