Last year the council said the “innovative project, funded by the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), will introduce a Play & Park destination designed to enhance the local environment and stimulate economic growth”.
It said it would include “functional surfaced routes to multiple areas of fun and relaxation”, “New exciting play areas suitable for all ages, accompanied by exercise and hangout spaces”, and “Green spaces adorned with trees, shrubs, and seating, providing a tranquil haven for relaxation and park enjoyment”.
The scheme was due to be built from October 21, 2024, with completion anticipated by mid-January this year, but the official unveiling was scheduled for Wednesday (23 April).
One factor understood to have delayed completion was the need to ensure access to services beneath the newly surfaced area.
