The building would include a bedroom, bathroom and living/study area for a dependent child requiring support.

Original plans for the annexe in the garden of a Juniper Road property, off Bitterne Road West, had originally received five objections mainly around size, and concerns about the loss of an existing garage.

A council planning panel meeting heard on April 22 that the original application was subsequently amended with a move of the building to the back of the site, a reduction in size to around 38 square metres, and retaining a garage.

No further objections were received following the amended proposal.

Conditional planning approval was unanimously agreed by the panel.
