Woodland fire extinguished at Frog’s Copse

Recent posts on social media suggest that fires have become a recurring issue at the area.

Frog’s Copse, which serves as local parkland, is also known for occasional wildlife sightings, with deer sometimes seen.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed:

A crew from Hightown Fire Station extinguished a woodland fire last night.

Firefighters were alerted to the incident in a play area on Marlhill Close, at 20:33.

One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire which was affected approximately a 20m x 10m area.

HIWFRS left the scene and returned to station following the stop message at 21:11.”
