In a statement the constabulary said: “In the summer of 2024, we saw a series of these incidents in the city's public spaces, with girls and woman left feeling unsafe. At the time, we increased patrols in response to this.
“This year, we have been proactively patrolling areas like Southampton Common, Riverside Park and the city centre spaces, as part of Operation Tiree, as part of our efforts to identify any potential offenders, and make these safe spaces for all, but in particular women.”
Police said it was vital that any suspicious incidents, particularly those involving indecent exposure, were reported so patrols could be targeted effectively.
They added that several arrests had already been made this summer, with officers able to respond quickly while out on patrol in the city.
