The week features a diverse programme of events, from film screenings and theatre to a singing workshop, a 5k run at St Mary’s Stadium, and a Palestine Solidarity Network vigil. Activities range from creative performances to community reflection and celebration.
“This Refugee Week everyone is invited to spend time with friends and build new connections in and beyond our neighbourhoods,” says event publicity. “...Let’s share the feelings of welcome and belonging. Listening, learning, laughing together.”
Saturday brings the week to a close with a showcase event outside West Quay from 11.30am, a carnival parade from 12.30pm, and an afternoon picnic and live music in Palmerston Park from 1-5pm.
The line-up showcases a wide mix of talent, featuring Afrobeat, Iranian, Punjabi, Afghan, Chinese, Ukrainian and R&B performers, with plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day.
