Police say they are working to address a “sharp increase” in the illegal use of motorbikes in Riverside Park, as well as a number of recent arson attempts around Marlhill Copse.

Officers are encouraging residents to report sightings of motorbikes promptly, to help them manage the problem more effectively.
“Behind the scenes we have been working on a plan to tackle this issue, whilst also trying to attend to reports as soon as we are able to,” said the force in a social post.
“We aren’t always able to get there quickly, which is why we rely on members of the public to make reports to us when this is happening. OP AXLOR is the reference to provide when making reports about motorbikes in or around Riverside Park and this will ensure all the reports can be collated and reviewed by us on the local team. This will hopefully allow us to identify any particular offenders or patterns to the riding so we can target our response.”
They added that a drone is being used to cover a wider area in support of the operation, which also includes the investigation of “several arson incidents in the Marlhill Copse area” which have “caused concern”.
