Now in its third year, organisers say the aim is to show visitors real-life examples of what’s possible - by connecting them with fellow Southampton residents.
The event will run from September 13-21. Householders can choose when their home is available and all visits will be pre-booked.
Event organisers are looking for homes that show everything from low-cost lifestyle changes to bigger eco upgrades, including:
- Low-cost energy improvements like draught exclusion and insulation
- Food growing or wildlife-friendly gardening practices
- Water saving and rainwater harvesting
- Composting
- Transport changes like car-free living, cargo bikes or electric cars
- Home heating upgrades like heat pumps
- Electricity generation like Solar PV and battery installations
Co-organiser Mark Hancock said “Enabling residents to see for themselves what can be done in ordinary Southampton homes is a fantastic way to engage people, spread knowledge across our communities, and inspire personal efforts and change.
“We are looking for anyone who’s made eco-friendly changes to their home, garden or lifestyle that they are willing to share with others.”
