A series of events billed as family-friendly is being hosted at Cobbett Road Library over the next two weeks, including a visit from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist and “favourite pantomime dame” Mama G.

Mama G, described by The Guardian as delivering tales “sprinkled with inclusivity and acceptance”, will be performing stories and songs as part of the library’s holiday schedule.
Other events include seed planting, board games and craft workshops – most of which are free to attend.
The full line-up includes:
Sowing Seeds - Saturday, August 2, 11.30am-1pm
Children can decorate a mini flowerpot, plant seeds and take home their own creation. Drop-in session. Free.
Games Afternoon Extravaganza - Monday, August 5, 1pm-3pm
A session of board and card games suitable for all ages. Free.
Mama G’s Story Time Spectacular - Tuesday, August 6, 10.30am-11.15am
Interactive storytelling with the pantomime dame who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and Dating: No Filter. £3 per child or £5 for two, including refreshments. Tickets via Eventbrite, from the library, or on the door.
Crazy Grass Heads Craft – Monday Tuesday, August 12, 1.30pm–3pm
Make and decorate a character with a cress or grass “hairdo” to grow at home. Free.
Build Your Dream Paper City – Monday Tuesday, 3.30pm–4.30pm
A creative session for budding architects, making paper buildings to form a miniature city. Free.
