The so-called Woodmill Bay area, currently being landscaped in Riverside Park, will still provide public access to the water, it has been confirmed.
The site has long been used informally as a car park, particularly by drivers of larger vehicles unable to enter the official Woodmill car park across the road because of its 2-metre height restriction.

Some locals feared that the work could remove one of the few public spots for launching small boats or kayaks north of Cobden Bridge, but it's now understood the river will remain accessible - even if boats have to be lugged from the official car park over the road.
Drivers of taller vans, however, may have to make other arrangements, as these will still be unable to use the main Woodmill car park once the informal car park by the river has been removed.
