Licensing and change of use planning applications have been submitted by WJDS Venues Ltd, trading as Compton Cocktails, seeking permission to sell alcohol on the premises for consumption on-site, with a proposed closure time of 11pm (10pm on Sundays).

The application also includes a licence for indoor live and recorded music during opening hours.

Documents show the venue would seat around 30, and the operators propose soundproofing works, with outdoor areas not used for music.

If approved, it would bring the number of bars along this stretch to four, including Mbuntu just around the corner on Cobden Avenue.

The unit was last occupied by haberdashery Darn It and Stitch, which, as reported, closed in June after seven years.

Comments on the planning application are open until Wednesday October 29, while the premises licence consultation runs until Tuesday November 5.
