Plans to install berthing pontoons off Whitworth Crescent have been lodged with the Marine Management Organisation.

It would involve the installation of around 55m of floating pontoons on the east bank of the River Itchen, which would have no impact on main river navigation, according to the application.
The site is currently understood to berth a large boat, described as a ferry - and on social media as a hovercraft.
