Southampton City Council has reported that two men have been caught on CCTV dumping rubbish at a Riverside Park car park.

The council said they had been caught “dragging a grab bag of waste and dumping a small sofa next to the glass recycling bins at Riverside Park, Woodmill Lane”, which only accept glass and clothing.
One person was issued with an £800 fixed penalty notice which has now been paid in full, said the authority.

As previously reported, a new solar-powered camera accessed by council teams was installed at the site last summer. Speaking at the time, SCC cabinet member Cllr John Savage said: “We are committed to maintaining Riverside Park as a clean and safe environment for everyone to enjoy.
“The installation of this solar-powered camera shows our ongoing commitment to our green city.
