The partnership event between traders and local churches has been confirmed for Saturday, December 20, with a seven-hour running time, from 1pm until 8pm.
Father Christmas by the Old Chemist at Bitterne Park Triangle during the event in 2024. He hasn't so far responded to a request for comment on how he'll be arriving this year.
Organisers said on social media: “This year we’re extending the celebrations @southamptoncitycouncil have granted us a road closure, which means we can make this event much safer and arrange seating (and some shelter) as many of you who have attended in previous years, this event can get very busy, and pockets of people will form in particular locations (especially when the snow machine starts ).”
The road closure is thought to extend from Bond Road to Cobden Avenue, creating space for a stage and even some seating this year.
The first segment, from 1-3.30pm includes a craft fair, a visit from Father Christmas, children’s crafts, carol singing and the Ukulele Jam, according to event publicity.
