The community effort, organised by the Friends of Riverside Park, saw helpers fill five gabions with twigs, straw, bricks and other natural materials, and construct a couple of log piles. The nectar-rich planting planned for the event will be completed in the coming week.

As reported, funding has also been secured to hire a professional ecologist to carry out a detailed survey of the old pitch and putt course north of Woodmill Lane.
FORP thanked volunteers for their efforts on Saturday.
