PACT meetings are held in partnership with the council and allow local residents to discuss “issues or concerns they have in the community”, as well as allowing police to share updates.

“We know there has been some concern that this meeting is to discuss banning protests in the area, but this is absolutely not the case. Our role as the police is to facilitate lawful protest and ensure the safety of residents and people attending, we have been really clear on our commitment to uphold this and nothing has changed on that matter,” Southampton Police confirmed on social media.

• PACT meeting on Thursday, January 8 at Highfield Church Centre, Highfield Lane from 6.30 - 8pm
