As reported earlier this week, Bitterne Park Stores announced its closure after five years, and next door The Songbird cafe said it will be closing in April.
Soca Shack said it made its decision “with heavy hearts” and that it “wasn’t an easy decision and it’s something we’ve been trying to avoid for the past year”.
“Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, we can no longer keep up with the current climate, and rising inflation, the business is no longer sustainable to continue running,” it added in a Facebook statement.

“We are absolutely gutted by this decision. Soca Shack has been our pride and joy for the past six years, and this is something we never expected to happen, especially just two years after opening the restaurant. What we built here was never just about food, it was culture, heritage, home and hard work.”
But the statement concluded: “this is not the end. We do plan to return one day, and we will continue running Soca Shack as a catering business”.
It went on to thank readers “from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support”.
Soca Shack finally opened in its premises on the corner of the Triangle and Bond Road in September 2023 following around a year of delays due to gas supply and other issues.
Previously Il Picchio cafe traded from the unit.
