Southampton Action, which supports vulnerable groups, says it’s looking for volunteers to help sort donated clothes at its storage space in Townhill Park.

The group says it works to “support refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups in Southampton and further afield by collecting donations for distribution to those in the local area, Calais and [beyond] and providing practical assistance to refugees”.
There are various dates in March and April given on Southampton Action’s Facebook page, where they can be messaged for further details.

An appeal has also been launched to support newly arrived asylum seekers in Southampton, who often arrive with little or nothing. Funds are being raised to provide basic essentials such as shoes, coats and underwear.
“These are not luxuries — they are the basics needed to stay warm, safe, and maintain dignity,” says Southampton Action.
