Compton’s William Smith said the team is “absolutely thrilled” to have been nominated.
“What makes this nomination even more special to us is that we were nominated by members of our own local community, including one of our wonderful salon clients from Little Hair Co,” he said.

“To know that local people thought enough of us to put our name forward means a huge amount, especially as Comptons has only been open for under six months.”
He said he and Tommy Compton have been “completely blown away” by support they’ve received so far, with the bar sitting second out of ten nominated venues at the time of writing.
“Many of these have been established far longer than we have - so to be recognised alongside them already feels like an incredible achievement,” he said.
“Our vision for Comptons was never just about opening a cocktail bar. We wanted to create a welcoming social space that contributes positively to Bitterne Park Triangle and helps shine a spotlight on the fantastic independent businesses, community spirit, and local events happening here. “
He added that the team were passionate about supporting the ongoing regeneration of Bitterne Park and saw the nomination as recognition not only for the venue, but also the area’s wider independent business community.
As reported, Comptons is behind the current transformation of The Songbird cafe into The Pink Olive.
The Muddy Stilettos editor says the website is “here to give you the lowdown on the latest and best in independent fashion, boutique interiors, destination dining, cosy countryside pubs and a whole spectrum of other brilliant, inventive local businesses”.
