What are described as “essential works” are “part of a wider programme of improvements across Southampton to upgrade and futureproof your electricity network”, according to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), who own and operate electrical infrastructure in the area.
The work schedule, to be carried out by Clancy, and posted online by Cllr John Savage, is as follows:
"Beginning on 25th May 2026, our delivery partner Clancy will be carrying out further works on Thomas Lewis Way & St Deny’s [sic] Junction following on from the first phase which was completed on 1st of May 2026. The works in this phase will see our delivery partner carry on trenching and ducting works across the St Deny’s junction and therefore will see traffic management being erected which will cause travel disruption. This includes a road closure on St Deny’s Road, east to west, through the junction and three-way lighting control on the Thomas Lewis Way interface with St Deny’s Junction."
