A new Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance airbase has been officially opened at Southampton Airport, following a multi-million-pound relocation project.

The move to the airport site followed a fundraising drive which raised £3.6 million from more than 13,000 donors, enabling the charity to secure and fit out the new operational base after leaving its previous location at Thruxton Aerodrome near Andover.
The charity says the purpose-built facility will help improve response times, allowing crews to reach incidents across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight more quickly from a more central location.
Representatives from the air ambulance service, Southampton Airport and partner organisations attended the official opening ceremony.
