The Pink Olive cafe opened on Wednesday (June 17) in the former Songbird premises, ahead of Compton’s Garden Party at the Triangle on Saturday (June 20).

Refitted and decorated in pink and green, it was all hands to the cappuccino pumps in the new cafe on Wednesday as locals popped in to see the transformation – and try out the new offering.

One was Yvonne Richmond. “I think the Pink Olive is a lovely addition to Bitterne Park Triangle,” she said.

“It’s beautifully done with the colours of pink and green... It’s a lovely big latte I’ve had this morning, and I’m very tempted by the cakes – the little miniature ones are gorgeous. And I wish the business all the best for the future. I’m sure it will do really well.”

As reported, an ambitious street party is planned for Saturday (June 20) marking the opening of the Pink Olive, a belated celebration of Compton’s Cocktails’ launch last December, and the seventh birthday of Little Hair salon.

It runs from noon, when Southampton Ukulele Jam open the event, until 11pm. It features live performers on a stage area, outside bars, food stalls and a range of other entertainment throughout the day.

“There’s a lot of acts who are very well known in the Southampton area, and in the pubs, and we’re actually bringing them into our community, which is great,” Tommy Compton previously told bitternepark.info.
