Southampton City Council said it is moving forward with speed cushions and raised tables on Brookvale Road, Russell Place and Abbotts Way, alongside improvements around Highfield Church of England Primary School and an extension of the local 20mph zone.
The measures are intended to make it safer and easier to walk, wheel and cycle in the area, with formal consultations on the detailed proposals expected later this year, said the council. It said changes follow feedback gathered earlier in the year on local travel and road safety issues.
The wider update also confirmed that previously trialled modal filters on Portswood Broadway and Russell Place will not return, while temporary build-outs on Brookvale Road and Belmont Road will be removed.
Separately, residents, visitors and businesses will later be invited to comment on proposed short-term improvements for Portswood Broadway, with the council confirming these will not include traffic restrictions such as the previous bus gate.
