TriFest returns to Riverside Park on Saturday with organisers promising a community festival that is “better, not bigger” – with a handful of new touches for visitors this year.

More than 50 stalls are expected, split roughly evenly between community groups and local charities, and small traders - a balance that reflects the festival’s community focus.
There will also be live music, food, a beer tent and this year a dedicated stage, provided in association with the Riverside café at the Triangle.
A decision on whether the popular dog show will go ahead is expected on Thursday, with organisers taking advice from Second Chance Animal Rescue because temperatures are forecast to reach around 26C.[update 17/7/26 the dog show has been cancelled]
Festival organiser Paul Jenks said: “We’re not aiming to necessarily be bigger because it remains a community festival - we’re not looking to rival Glastonbury or anything - but we are looking at being a little bit better every year, with a new element every year.”
Among this year’s additions are portable toilets on the field and a silent disco, which will be held in a spare marquee and is expected to carry a small admission charge.
With nearby parking very limited, visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport where possible - and may also wish to bring a chair or picnic blanket as there’s no seating provided, and some means of shade.
