Portswood Primary School has been rated "Strong" in all seven areas assessed by Ofsted in a June inspection.

Under Ofsted’s new ‘report card’ grading system, ‘Strong’ means “leaders are working above the standard expected of them”.
The inspectors’ report said: “Pupils thrive at this diverse and inclusive school. Leaders and staff celebrate pupils as individuals and share warm, respectful relationships. They have high expectations for every child. Pupils want to come to school. This is reflected in their positive attendance.”
Safeguarding standards at the school are met, said inspectors.
Portswood Primary has 433 pupils. Just under a third are eligible for free school meals, and around 18% have special educational needs – both slightly higher than the national average.
The previous inspection was in February 2022, which rated the school ‘Good’ under Ofsted’s previous grading system.
