Priory Road will be subject to a series of daytime closures from August 17 while carriageway resurfacing work is carried out.

As previously reported, there have been various calls for improvements to the Priory Road south surface, particularly as it forms part of a local and national cycle route.
The work by Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Southampton City Council, is expected to take eight working days.
Priory Road: can be a white-knuckle ride by bike
Closures are scheduled as follows:
- Aug 17: Full closure between St Denys Road and Griffin Court.
- Aug 18: Full closure between Griffin Court and Adelaide Road.
- Aug 19: Phased closures between St Denys Road and Adelaide Road.
- Aug 20–21: Full closure between Griffin Court and Adelaide Road.
- Aug 24: Full closure between St Denys Road and Griffin Court.
- Aug 25–26: Phased closures between St Denys Road and Adelaide Road.
Restrictions will be in place between 7.30am and 5.30pm, with the road due to reopen to traffic outside working hours. Access to driveways will be maintained where it is safe to do so, says Balfour Beatty.
The dates are subject to change depending on weather and progress, with advance warning signs to be used if the schedule changes, adds BB.
As reported, works requiring the multi-way temporary lights by Cobden Bridge and Priory Road are scheduled to finish on August 14.
