Plans have been tabled to build an extension at a Portswood mosque.

Bashir Ahmed Trust has submitted an application to the city council for the scheme at the Masjid Bashir mosque at 96-100 Portswood Road.
The proposals include a two-storey extension at the front of the building and internal alterations.
A statement prepared on behalf of the applicant by Miura Architecture said the scheme intends to optimise the existing site boundaries to provide a larger entrance space.
It said: “The design will seek to harmonize with the street scene of Portswood Road while remaining sensitive to adjoining residential properties.
“There is no addition to community hall space, prayer area, enhanced ablution facilities, or secondary multi-purpose rooms and no additional users.
“The extension is solely to improve the space to which the attendees arrive.”
The application will be assessed by council planning officers after a public consultation closes on Friday, September 4.
