A new café, appropriately named Nova, opened on Portswood Broadway on Saturday (Aug 22) in the former Poppins Restaurant premises.

The café describes itself as “Innovative, versatile and varied cafe that aims to serve the local community and university”, and particularly promotes brunch, lunch and coffee.
The premises have been refurbished, while the staff have remained the same. The owners are Ozzie (Yildirim) Ordu and his wife Fatimath.
Sheriff of Southampton Cllr Kat Barbour, who attended the opening on Saturday, said: “We need businesses like this on our high street, they provide a lifeline for people living alone who may not speak to anyone from day to day apart from when on the Broadway.
“Congratulations to Ozzie, Fatima and their team for this opening and we wish them well.”
