Organisers said all 2,500 tickets were sold, with the money set to provide £5,000 of community support through the two local Lions clubs over the next year or so.
But the race itself proved eventful, with the wind taking “the upper hand” during the latter stages and preventing the ducks from swimming to the installed finish line.
Organisers reported they hastily moved the finish to where the ducks had congregated, removing them from the water in order of how far they had travelled upstream to identify the 20 prize winners.
