Karen Yates writes to tell us about the Ashtree Road street party she's involved with organising, to be held on Saturday, June 2 between 2 and 7pm.
I am organising a street party for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It is going to be held on Ashtree Road on Saturday 2nd June, between 2pm and 7pm, which is when our road will be closed. We have all sorts of things planned for the day including the mayor visiting and Peppa pig will also be making an appearance!
We have a bouncy castle, kids' sports, tug of war, cake competition, face painting, tea tent, balloon modelling, name the teddy, design a crown competition to name but a few activities. We are hoping residents will come dressed in the style of the decades of the Queen's reign, 50s through to the present day. Our lovely traders at the Triangle have donated prizes for our grand raffle and all the proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Everyone is welcome to join us and we only ask that they donate some food to our American Supper which will be at 4pm.
If anyone wants to contact me they can at
