“…this junction has a very good casualty record”, according to a council road safety officer, quoted on the website campaigning for better safety measures at the junction of Midanbury Lane and Cobden Avenue.
This view is probably based on official accident figures: a Freedom of Information request by the campaign has apparently revealed only 12 minor accidents had been reported at the junction in the last 10 years.
But the campaign suggests accidents are being under-reported, so it's now set up its own online accident log, where members of the public can record details of further incidents.
And three crashes have already been noted since July 2012, when an accident involving children travelling in a school minibus prompted locals to set up the campaigning website in the first place.
You can catch up with all the latest campaign developments and have your say on what should be done to improve safety at the junction, at MidanburyLaneJunction.com.
