Various agencies are working together this week in Mansbridge for what will be the 15th Crime Reduction and Environment Week (CREW).
Cleaning ‘crews’ are gearing up to blitz the area, and a range of agencies will focus their attention on Mansbridge to combat anti-social behaviour and crime, and improve the environment across the neighbourhood.
The week will include fun sports and community events to rubbish clearance and graffiti removal. The stream running through Mansfield will be cleared of rubbish, overgrown hedges will be chopped back, broken fences repaired, road signs replaced and public places spruced up as part of the week long drive to make the neighbourhood sparkle again.
Mansbridge Primary School is working with local partnerships to plan sports activities, litter picks and participating agencies will go to the school and explain to the pupils more about CREW and what they can do for their neighbourhood. Southampton City Council is also joining forces with the school, which is holding its summer fete on the Saturday 20; this will include the chance for youngsters to experience being a DJ and mixing, going on the arts and crafts bus and joining in community activities.
Local youngsters are getting involved in a basketball tournament and a sports event on the Friday after school.
