St Denys Community Centre opening
The official opening of the re-vamped St Denys Community Centre,
opposite the Junction pub in Priory Road, takes place on Saturday, 22
July from 11am — 4pm, following its Ł1.2 million refurbishment. It will be opened by Hampshire cricket player Sean Ervine.
The theme is ‘fun and fitness’, and events include face painting, live music and dance, a penalty shoot out competition and unarmed combat and gymnastics displays.
There will also be story telling, and kids can have a go at different arts and crafts. In fact organisers say the list of events is growing all the time!
The opening weeks will see various groups meeting at the Centre: already on the cards are two musical groups and a brass band practising, two Wing Chung self defence classes, two art groups (including Chinese brush art), tumble tots, weight watchers and quitters.
The Centre is also hoping that an after school club, a baby clinic, line dancing, monthly tea dances and sports coaching during the summer holidays will all be confirmed over the coming weeks.
For further information about the Centre, contact Martin Gentry at the Junction Inn, Priory Road, or phone 023 8058 4486.
