£3K pontoon taken from Bitterne Park

whitworthcrescentsignPolice are appealing for witnesses after a pontoon was taken from a mooring at Whitworth Crescent. It’s believed the large structure was towed towards Northam Bridge by a white motor launch on Sat, Nov 1 [see comments for update].

The pontoon had been at its Whitworth Crescent mooring for about four weeks, and was last seen there at around 2pm on Friday, November 30. A witness believes they saw it being towed by a white motor launch on the Saturday.

A search of the area by the Hampshire Constabulary Marine Unit on Monday failed to locate the pontoon.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw a pontoon being towed anytime after 2pm Friday, November 30.  They also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered a pontoon for sale or scrap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Caroline Woodfield at Bitterne on 101.
