A conference takes place on Saturday (Feb 2, 9.30am-3pm, Civic offices) to launch a project which aims to tie together various “strands of co-operative opportunity” and look at how municipal services can be provided co-operatively. Keynote speaker is Dame Pauline Green (left), President of the International Co-operative Alliance.

Other speakers include, Dr Richard Williams, Leader of Southampton City Council, Chris Funnell, a local co-operative development specialist, Maria Mills of SEUK and the Southampton based Social Care in Action, and Fay Bowden from Co-operative Group Member Services.
The event is for experienced co-operators and people involved with social and ethical business, including council members and employees who want to know more about co-operative organisations and co-operative council opportunities.
A wide variety of co-operatively produced and retailed products and services will also be available.
