As locals gathered on National Libraries Day at Cobbett Road to celebrate their local library – not to mention the fact it’s likely to escape with a cut of a sixth rather than a half to its opening times in the budget – we chatted with Bitterne Park Cllr Peter Baillie (Conservative); Cllr Warwick Payne (Labour) – cabinet member for housing and leisure; and Kevin Lancashire, Chair of Friends of Cobbett Road Library (in that order) about the future for small libraries such as ours.
